About Me

Tamara Wortnerová

Tamara Wortnerová (1984)

I am an artist, physiotherapist, and craniosacral therapist. In my physiotherapy practice, I specialise in craniosacral therapy — a gentle technique of working with the body, fascia, and the nervous system. It has gradually led me to explore the potential of the fluid and fascial body, the water system within us that supports all bodily and tissue processes. Since our entire nervous system is bathed in fluids, tissue rehydration and the restoration of flow strengthen and renew the nervous capacity needed for fully experiencing life — which is why working with water is so nourishing for the body.

When we speak of the wisdom or memory of the body, we are speaking precisely of this system. By restoring living flow and nourishing the nervous system, the body is able to release even very old and deep burdens; the fluid flow then strengthens the overall condition of the tissues and the nervous system.

During both therapy and artistic creation, the body becomes for me an infinite, life-giving ocean — one only needs to become still, attentive, and it begins to tell its story, to reveal its secrets. Sometimes in therapy sessions we reach powerful moments from the prenatal period, when our entire body was bathed in fluids and re-experiences the archetypal feeling of wholeness.

My artwork can be understood as the records of a craniosacral therapist who listens to the stories of the body, uncovers their secrets, and then imprints them into paintings. I try to capture the processes and stories of the body shared in moments of gentle, quiet, loving presence. I offer them to the perceptive viewer attuned to a quiet yet profound experience.

I studied physiotherapy at the Third Faculty of Medicine, Charles University. I worked for ten years as a physiotherapist at the hospital in České Budějovice. Today I have my own established private practice for my clients.

In 2019, I exhibited the collection “Touches of One Life” at Café Kampus in Prague. In 2023, I exhibited the canvas collection “Quietly” at ESSE Gallery in České Budějovice.

I consider Aleš Hnízdil and Jindra Viková my mentors — they share my experience of connecting human anatomy with emotions.
